Dog Treats

There are many great great brands of dog treats on the market today, but we like to make our own. Not only is it fun, it's cost effective and kids love it. Making homemade dog treats is a great project for a rainy or cold day when kids are penned up with nothing to do.

Keep in mind, dog treats are not a substitute for food and should not be overfed to your dog. We recommend using them as an ocassional reward a few times a day or for training a puppy. When used for training, use small bite size pieces, not a whole treat.

The great thing about homemade dog treats are that you can control the quality of the product. Use only ingredients that you would use in food prepared for yourself. Use natural, organic ingredients whenever possible to avoid chemicals, sugar and preservatives being given to your dog. Make small batches and store in an airtight container to keep fresh.
