Labradoodle Breeder and Puppies Directory - Find a Labradoodle Puppy - Labradoodle Information

The Labradoodle, in general terms, is a cross between a Labrador Retriever and a Poodle. The American Labradoodle is considered a "hybrid", while the Australian Labradoodle is a recognized purebred breed of dog.

The Labradoodle can also be broken down in the following ways:

  • F1 = This is a 50% Labrador Retriever and 50% Poodle cross. The F1 can shed or be a non-shedding dog, depending on the breeding stock. If you have allergies, this is probably not the right Labradoodle for you.

  • F1-B = This particular Labradoodle is a cross between a  Poodle and a F1 Labradoodle. It produces a Labradoodle that is 25% Labrador Retriever and 75% Poodle. For allergy sufferers, this is probably the best Labradoodle to consider. The F1-B has the best chance of being non-shedding.

  • F2 = The F2 is a cross between two F1 Labradoodles.

  • F3 = The F3 is a cross between two F2 Labradoodles.

  • Multi-Generational Labradoodles are F3 and higher. Australian Labradoodles are multi-generation Labradoodles.

Labradoodles are intelligent, easy to train and make great family companions. They are active dogs and do require regular exercise. They are non-agressive but do need to have disipline and structure to avoid developing undesireable behavior.

Now that you know the difference in the types of Labradoodles available, find out how to choose a breeder and what to ask before you make a purchase.
